TEAM MAXXIS NEW STEEDS

Team Replica Gin & Trombones

Geoff Kabush, National Mountain Bike Series Short Track Champion, and Maxxis teammates Mathieu, Melissa, and Adam McGrath will keep the flame orange streaks going as they race across North America’s cyclocross tracks. Maxxis Tires’ distinctive color will now be twice as bold because the team will be riding Van Dessels Gin and Trombones cross frames that are painted to match their team colors.

Chris Warrick (Maxxis Bicycle Sponsorship Coordinator) said that they are excited about the season. We have an all-star team, and we are thrilled to be working alongside Van Dessel.

Kabush’s NORBA Championship record earns him the distinction of being the most prominent rider on the team. Toulouse, a cross veteran has waited patiently for his chance to make it big.

Thomas is new to Maxxis, but her results from last season (4th at U.S. Cyclocross Nats and 5th overall U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross) show that she is a force to reckon with. McGrath will be taking a break as the team mechanic to race in the Under-23 class. She hopes to earn another spot on U.S. Worlds.

Team Maxxis will embark on a North American campaign with all four riders participating in the Crank Brothers U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross. Kabush and Toulouse will be competing for the Maple Leaf jersey at Canada’s Nationals in Nanaimo BC in November. Thomas and McGrath will be competing for the Stars-and-Stripes title at the U.S. Nationals, Providence, RI, in December.

Kabush explained that cross races can be difficult and requires a bike that is capable of handling those conditions. It is obvious that a cross bike such as Van Dessels Gin & Trombones was designed by racers. You can have the bike on muddy days and strength for abuse. It also has a carbon rear end that keeps it smooth even on bumpy, dry and fast days. My Van Dessel is all I have to do is arrive at the race, change into clothes and check my tires for the conditions.

Van Dessel Gin and Trombones, a race-inspired crossframe, was created with the help of American cyclocross expert Adam Myerson. The G&T has a carbon seat stay and an aluminum main triangle. It also features a lot of mud clearance and Euro-style geometry.

The team replica orange finish is new for this season. It can be seen on country roads and cross-courses, as well as city streets. Prices include frame/fork/headset, Shimano Ultegra Pro Build, Shimano Shimano Dura Ace Build, and Geoff Kabush’s Team Maxxis Replica.
