DMR TRANSITION

Dirt Jumper from the UK

The DMR Transition is not a model that reflects the current suspension innovation in mountain biking. The DMR Transition is a single-speed rigid, rigid, jump- and skatepark-style bike that has 61 cm wheels. This is a great way to approach mountain biking from an entirely new perspective.
You’re likely to answer « What is the first mountain biking company you think of? » DMR is not the right answer. DesignMakeRide, a rider-owned business based in the United Kingdom, specializes in making components that suit the needs of hardcore riders. DMR manufactures over 100 components and sells four complete dirt-jump-oriented bikes. DMR Transition’s front and back are specced with DMR components, from fork to tires.

TRANSITION
The DMR Transition looks more mountain bike than BMX, and is built to withstand punishment. The DMR Transition’s 61 cm wheels, V brakes, chromoly frame and fork, handlebar, and cranks resemble a street-ready BMX Cruiser.
The frame is 4130 chromoly and features an integrated headset as well as a European bottom bracket. DMRs Trailblade 2, a unique fork, has a 14-millimeter dropout and both cantilever levers and disc brake mounts. A 36-tooth Shimano chainring and a 168 Shimano freewheel make up the single-speed drivetrain. A 48-spoke rear wheel with 36-spoke front and a 14-millimeter hubs show another aspect of the Transition’s BMX-influenced design.

Use the DMR Transition as directed. It is more BMX-oriented than a mountain bike and more at home on a skatepark than a trail. The 61 cm wheels make it easier to navigate ramps than standard 26ers.

LIFE ON THE STEET
While the Transition is great for dirt jumps, it’s best suited to street and skateparks. There are many places to ride in Los Angeles’ concrete jungle. Here’s our opinion on the DMR Transition.
Pedaling: With the DMR’s basic drivetrain, there is little room for error or chance of missing shifts. For pedaling around the neighborhood or between skatepark ramps, the 36-16 gear ratio is perfect. Two-piece chromoly cranks made of chromoly are strong and durable. The half-type bashguard protects the chainring from damage when stalling on concrete, steel, or ramps. DMR’s V8 platform pedals for basic platforms are very popular. They feature a chromoly shaft and replaceable pins.
Handling: Street-style tricks and maneuvers require a quick-steering head angle of 71 degrees. To make the tires roll fast and responsive on concrete and ramps, we ran them between 50-60 psi in DMRs Transition models tires.
Braking: The Transitions braking duties were performed by Tektro V brakes. A V brake system rarely has the same power as disc brakes. However, in this case the choice is obvious. Stalls and grinds are common maneuvers on street and skateparks. If you break a rotor, it can cause serious problems. The V brakes are practical and offer more power than they lose.
Jumping: The Transition was designed to be used on ramps and in skateparks. Although it isn’t the lightest, the Transition is built to last. The Transition is ready to take to the air. For landing harsh landings or bails, the Transition’s 50-millimeter stem, sturdy saddle and beefy DMR Wingbar handlebar can be used.
Anyone who has ever ridden a front suspension bike will be shocked to learn that a rigid bike can be difficult to jump. Every little mistake will be noticed.

WHATS NOT to LIKE?
The DMR Transition’s biggest problem is its inability to be a true mountain bike. This bike is not suited for urban environments. You can ride your bike on rails or skateparks. Look elsewhere if you want your bike do more.
DMR is not well-known in the United States. A distributor imports the bikes and parts. This places the brand in a disadvantage compared to bike companies that have American facilities.

GOOD FIT
The DMR Transition jump bike is fun and nimble. It was designed to be used in this niche of mountain biking. The design and geometry make it easy to navigate jumps and obstacles while the setup is simple. The Transition is a great choice for jumpers looking for something different. The Transition is a great choice for anyone who loves mountain biking and BMX.

Keep it tight: The chain tensioner ensures that the rear axle of 14 millimeters is in the right place despite repeated landings and abuse. The BMX influence on Transition is evident in the beefy rear and front axles.
